About Ambiente Já

Ambiente JÁ is both a platform and a network, which main goals are to produce, collect, filter, index, manage and analyse information about environmental issues. It has started in February of 1999 as a clipping service in Southern Brazil. Since 04 (four) years ago it has been developed as an online database as well as a network of expert journalists.

The daily work is performed by a main team of journalists and volunteers in Porto Alegre, Brazil, supported by some partners from different places of the world like Florianópolis (Brazil), São Paulo(Brazil), Brasília (Brazil), Arkansas (USA), New York (USA), Lübeck (Germany) and Berlin (Germany).

In January 2006 the Association of Environmental Information (AIA), a non-profitable organization will take over the project to conduct its expansion.

Mission

To be a communication project focused on environmental information, managed in a descentralized and autonomous structure, which will serve to promote public awareness and vocational qualification of experts in this area (Information and environment).

What we offer:

Reservado - Analysis and information, including articles from specialists and opinion of authorities, about the main ecological issues. Here is were our publishing orientation clearly shines up.

Sinopsis - Clipping from the main 130 vehicles of brazilian and worlwide press, with information edited by date, area and themes (28).

Acompanhamento Governamental (Legislation Watch) - Information about comissions and negotiations of projects in the governamental and legislation area.

Vigilia científica e tecnológica (Scientific and technological watch) - Experimental project to bring about scientific research in the environmental field. Nowadays developed in partnership with Universities from Southern Brazil.

Relatórios especiais (Special Reports) - Complete documents and studies produced recently by scientific, governamental or non-governamental institutions in the environmental field. There is the possibility of translation of these documents on demand.

Banco de imagens (Image database) - A selection of images classified by theme and reproduced daily in the "Imagem Ambiente" section of the Ambiente Já website since march 2004.

Multimídia Ambiente (Ambiente multimedia) - Text, photographs, films, animations and website archives, classified according to theme. System under construction to be released in April 2006.
